Abraham "Jason" Gassman, a former South Brunswick Police officer, has pleaded guilty to second-degree theft of $75K from the Policeman's Benevolent Association (PBA) over the past six years. He was caught shoplifting bedding items valued at about $100 from the Ocean Twp. Target in early 2025. The state plans to sentence him to seven years in state prison, reduced to five if full restitution is paid. Gassmen used the PBA credit card for personal purchases and used cash proceeds from PBA charity fundraisers and other events. He also submitted documents falsely indicating that he had paid back personal purchases.
