First responders are seeing a rise in motorcycle crashes in the first few weeks of spring, with most being either fatal or near fatal. Michael Turcio, operations manager at American Medical Response in New Haven, has reported 20 motorcycle accidents since late March. Both riders and drivers are blamed for not wearing helmets, distracted driving, and speeding. The state reports that more than 50 motorcyclists are killed in Connecticut each year.
