OpenAI is expanding access to its most advanced AI models to help businesses and governments shore up cyber defenses. This is in contrast to rival Anthropic, which believes controlling access to these models is the best way to boost global cybersecurity. Until recently, OpenAI's Trusted Access for Cyber program was limited to a select group of partners. Now, the company is opening access to all vetted levels of government, from federal agencies down to state and local offices, giving those verified and approved access to special versions of OpenAI’s models with fewer guardrails. The company aims to democratize its ability to provide cyber defense to all without excluding the Fortune 50 or the biggest fanciest companies.
