WordPress has released Gutenberg 22.7, a new version of the platform that aims to streamline the editing process and align the block editor with AI adoption in WordPress 7.0. The update allows block developers to define custom CSS selectors in block.json, allowing Global Styles to apply styles to specific elements within a block, rather than being limited to the block’s root wrapper. The Content Guidelines feature was added to the platform, a feature that allows for a single place in WordPress to capture site-wide content standards and context, allowing publishing tools to manage content that stays consistent and accessible. Other notable features include a live preview for style variation transforms and a new admin page for connectors to manage AI keys and credentials.
