New Jersey's blue claw crabbing season is heating up with warmer weather, with the peak period expected between June and September. Crabbing is already being pulled from back bays and tributaries at the Jersey Shore. Water temperatures can be monitored on the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) website. Blue claw crabs are found all along the Jersey shore, found in tidal creeks, rivers, and shallow saltwater bays. Late summer and early fall crabbing tend to be particularly successful, with some finding larger crabs in September and October.
