St. John's basketball coach, Rick Pitino, has signed a new contract that will make him the second-highest paid-coach in the Big East, after UConn's Dan Hurley. This follows St. John’s remarkable return to national prominence after a 30-7 record and a season-ending loss to Duke. Pitino's tenure led to a record-breaking year for the Red Storm, which also saw them become the first team to win back-to-back Big East regular season and tournament titles.
