State police lieutenant, Jennifer Penton, has pleaded not guilty to a perjury charge in connection with the death of a 25-year-old recruit named Enrique Delgado-Garcia. The alleged perjury charge stems from allegations that Penton lied about when she learned of the recruit's possible concussion. Other state police officers, including Edwin Rodriguez and David Montanez, have also been indicted for Involuntary Manslaughter and causing serious bodily harm.
