Nine young Oregon artists' work will be displayed at the ScienceWorks Hands-On Museum gallery in Ashland throughout May at the gallery. The work is inspired by the ongoing cruelty within the cattle industry in America, highlighting consumer ignorance about consumer consumption habits and the impact on nature. One piece, "Breathe," aims to create conversations about environmentalism through the juxtaposition of a mystical mermaid and the real world impacts of plastics. Other works include "The Cost of Connivance," "One Scoop," a play on global warming," and "Breath," which depicts the environmental impact of single-use plastics. The artists hope that future legislation will be introduced to limit plastic production or promote adoption of plastic alternatives.
