A University of Idaho professor Rebecca Scofield has won a $10 million judgment after a jury found fortune-telling tarot TikTok influencer Ashley Guillard falsely accused her of being behind the quadruple murders of four college students in 2022. The jury found that Guillard had falsely accused Scofield of having a secret romance with one of the victims and orchestrating their killings. Despite being served with cease-and-desist letters and police publicly confirming Scofield had no connection to the murders, Guillard continued to upload videos to her 100,000 TikTok followers claiming she had ordered the killings. The verdict was reached by a Boise jury after less than two hours of deliberating. Following the verdict, Scofield thanked the jury and expressed hope that the case could deter future offenders from making false statements online.
