Senate GOP fears shutdown streak

The Senate is set to pass a budget resolution through the Senate, which would provide a blueprint for a budget reconciliation bill that would bypass a Senate Democratic filibuster to fund Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol through 2029. However, there is growing concern among Republicans that Democrats may trigger another government shutdown in September. The current shutdown of DHS is the longest in history, surpassing the previous record set in 1992. The GOP is also concerned that the regular government funding process has been broken following two unsuccessful funding standoffs during President Trump's second term.
