KCK man man charged after stolen patrol SUV chase ends in crash on Independence Avenue

A Kansas City, Kansas, man, Jorge Castrejon, is facing felony charges for allegedly leading police officers on a stolen patrol vehicle that ended in a crash along Independence Avenue. The vehicle was stolen from a Liberty dealership before it was outfitted with police equipment or markings. The police chase involved a 2026 Ford Explorer assigned to the Kansas City Police Department and ended when the driver lost control while turning near Independence Avenue and hit a storm drain and a utility wire, causing the vehicle to flip over, also hitting a utility pole and a nearby building. Castrejon is being held on a $50,000 bond and under house arrest with GPS monitoring, cannot drive, and cannot contact any victims or witnesses. The case remains under investigation.
