Dr. Thomas Shaknovsky, a Florida doctor, has been charged with second-degree manslaughter for allegedly removing the wrong organ during a surgery that resulted in the death of 70-year-old William Bryan. William's wife, Beverly Bryan, claims that her husband's death was caused by Shaknov. During a deposition from 2025, Shaknowski stated that he could not distinguish William's organs due to his emotional breakdown. He also stated he believed William's spleen was double the size of what is normal due to a mass on it, despite it being less than 15% of a liver. The allegations stem from a lawsuit alleging medical malpractice, which also accuses Shaknovich of omitting any reference to William's liver being removed to cover up his negligence.
