Some Ohio Businesses Begin Asking for Tariff Refunds

Former Ohio Democratic U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown has criticized his opponent, Ohio Republican Sen. Jon Husted, for supporting the illegal tariffs imposed by the U.K. Supreme Court. The court ruled that President Donald Trump did not have emergency authority to impose tariffs, a power usually reserved for Congress. Some small businesses were particularly affected by the tariffs, as they couldn't afford to renegotiate terms with foreign suppliers and were reluctant to raise prices on their customers. The coalition of over 800 small businesses opposing the tariffs urged the government to establish a fast, efficient refund process. However, fiscal hawks warn that the loss of this revenue could exacerbate already-huge budget deficits.
