A study led by the University of Sydney has found that three small changes in sleep, diet, and physical activity can significantly lower your risk of heart attack, stroke, and heart failure. The study, which involved 53,242 participants, found that adding 11 more minutes of sleep, an extra 4.5 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity, and an additional quarter cup of vegetables each day could significantly reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events over eight years. The research also found that combining small changes can have a surprisingly large positive impact on cardiovascular health. While the study could not prove cause and effect, the data indicated a positive correlation between these three behaviors and lower overall risk. The researchers plan to develop new digital tools to support people in making positive lifestyle changes.
