Iran and Israel have traded strikes on the Persian New Year, with explosions heard over Tehran as part of celebrations. The country's new Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, stated that Iran's enemies need their security removed. The attacks came after Israel bombed Iran's South Pars offshore natural gas field in the Persian Gulf. Kuwait's Mina Al-Ahmadi oil refinery was hit by two waves of drone strikes, causing a fire and crews are working to control it. The attack comes after Israel announced it had begun new strikes on Iran. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the country would hold off on any further attacks on the gas field at the request of U.S. President Donald Trump after the Iranian response sent oil prices soaring.
