Louisiana governor welcomes idea of National Guard to help airport security

Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry has welcomed the idea of the Louisiana National Guard to assist in security at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport due to the partial federal shutdown. This follows President Donald Trump's announcement that he would send ICE agents to the airports to assist with security. Many TSA workers have called out sick, leading to a staffing shortage. The airport has issued a notice stating that travelers should arrive at least 3 hours before their scheduled departure due to wait times of up to 2 hours.
