WNBA announces expansion and rookie drafts ahead of season, Fire tickets to go on sale

The WNBA's 14th and 15th franchises, the Portland Fire and the Toronto Tempo, will begin building their inaugural rosters during the 2026 WNBA Expansion Draft on Friday, April 3. The decision will be made via a coin toss. The Expansion Draft will feature two rounds of selecting players from a pool determined by the league's 13 existing teams. The Fire and Tempo will alternate their picks in a "snake" format, with the team with the first pick in the first round taking second.
