Local NC and SC students advance to compete in national spelling bee in Washington, DC

The Carolina Panthers held a regional spelling bee, which included 110 top students from grades three to eight across the country. The top six students will compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee Tournament in Washington, D.C. Two girls from Oakridge Middle School in South Carolina advanced in the South Carolina portion of the competition, with Manha Shaik placing 1st and Salonee Biraber coming second. The North Carolina spellers also included two students from The Brawley School in Virginia.
