Grand Canyon braces for extreme heat with extra spring break visitors

The Grand Canyon is preparing for high temperatures in March, with popular hiking spots at the bottom of the canyon expected to reach triple digits. The park usually has dozens of prevention volunteers to assist hikers out of the Canyon during peak season, but these are still weeks away from arriving. Over 70 volunteers will be hiking inside the Grand Canyon during the peak season. The Preventive Search and Rescue team helps thousands of visitors each year and assist hikers and support their safe return to the rim. The extreme heat warning for the inner canyon is high, with an estimated 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
