A 24-year-old student student, George Bird, discovered a 3,700-year old ceremonial stone circle site in the English woods near a standing stone in a Derbyshire forest in 2024. The discovery was made by an archaeological team from Forestry England and the television program Time Team, which documented the excavation for a British television show. The previously known Farley Moor standing stone was found near a known standing stone, which was previously believed to be a singular monument. The excavations found evidence that this stone once sat next to a ceremonial platform, which had been intentionally located above a natural spring. The site was identified through carbon dating and places the entire site to 1,700 B.C. It is now being protected under a larger monument and plans to return in the summer for further investigations.
