Sony has issued a statement clarifying its controversial PS5 DRM feature, stating that the 30-Day Check-In timer on PlayStation 5 digital games is only temporary and that players who don't connect to the internet after 30 days will have their game blocked from playing it. However, Sony has assured that players can continue to access and play their purchased games as usual. The new system requires players to log in at least once after 14 days of purchase to prevent their game from being blocked. The issue was first discovered by ResetEra user andshrew, who speculates that Sony may be trying to prevent players from abusing their refund policy by issuing a 30-day license for new purchases instead of an indefinite duration. The system reportedly works for players who buy a PS4 or PS5 digital game after April 2026.
