Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena hosted championship basketball, as Maryland crowned girl's 1A and boy's 4A winners. The games were held the same day as UMBC beat Vermont in the America East championship game. Five-star, Maryland-bound senior forward Baba Oladotun helped the James Hubert Blake High School Bengals win against the Walt Whitman High School Vikings. Blake claimed the 4A boy's crown, 60-44, marking the school's first championship since opening in 1998. In the girl's Class 1A title game, Southern Garrett High School defeated Pikesville High School, leading to the Rams' victory. The state championship schedule runs through Tuesday.
