Hope Gordon, a 31-year-old para-powerlifter, will compete in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2026. She was diagnosed with a condition called complex regional pain syndrome at the age of 12 and underwent repeated 450-mile round trips to Glasgow for unsuccessful treatments. Despite this, she kept playing sport as an escape. At 21, she made a significant decision to amputate her left leg, partially to prevent spread of the condition and to improve her quality of life.
