The Democrats have led a probe into Epstein, who died in 2019 while awaiting trial, and have subpoenaed high-profile figures they believe have knowledge of his crimes to testify. In a rare statement, Trump called Epstein "disgraceful" and denied any ties to him and his accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell, who is currently serving a 20-year sentence tied to the sex trafficking case. The first lady also acknowledged a casual email she sent to Maxwell during her remarks from the White House. The committee's ranking member, Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.), supports this hearing.
