A group of Democrats on the House Oversight Committee are calling for first lady Melania Trump to testify before Congress regarding the crimes of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The Democrats have led a probe into Epstein, who died in 2019 while awaiting trial, and have subpoenaed high-profile figures they believe have knowledge of his crimes to testify. In a rare statement, Trump called Epstein "disgraceful" and denied any ties to him and his accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell, who is currently serving a 20-year sentence tied to the sex trafficking case. The first lady also acknowledged a casual email she sent to Maxwell during her remarks from the White House. The committee's ranking member, Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.), supports this hearing.
