The Oscar-winning documentary, Mr. Nobody Against Putin, won the best feature length documentary at the March 15th Academy Awards, has been viewed as a significant moment in the history of Russian politics. The film, which uses saved footage from its main actor, primary school teacher, videographer, and co-director Pavel (“Pasha”) Talankin, depicts a true story about a Russian elementary school teacher who records his experiences in the village of Kurabasak, where Putin imposes militant marches, classroom lessons and propaganda exercises on the children. Co-director David Borenstein highlighted the film's message and methods in his acceptance speech, which has resonated with many U.S. citizens in the current climate of anti-Putin sentiment. The documentary is now available on iTunes and is available for rent or purchase on streaming services.
