Accused Rihanna shooter’s attempted murder case takes bizarre turn as lawyer requests mental-health check

Ivanna Ortiz, the 35-year-old woman accused of opening fire on Rihanna's Beverly Hills mansion with a high-powered rifle, has been ruled competent to stand trial on attempted murder charges. Her lawyer had requested an additional mental-health check before a judge ruled that the trial could proceed. Ortiz, who has pleaded not guilty to charges including attempted murder and other felonies, was seen in shackles and carrying a plastic bag filled with snacks during a hearing at Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center. The shooting on March 8 left Rihanna and her husband A$AP Rocky with three young children, their mother and two staffers inside the main house. The Los Angeles County District Attorney revealed that both Rihanna, and her family, were inside an A-269 trailer on the property at the time of the gunfire.
