Irene Bartolomé's documentary, Dream of Another Summer, is set in Beirut and is about the aftermath of an explosion in 2020 that killed over 200 people. The film, which premiered at the Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival in Greece, is about absence and presence, with a largely absent protagonist named Alicia who returns to Beirut from Spain and becomes obsessed with the city's damaged grain silos. Alicia's obsession centers on the state of the silos by the port that sustained severe damage in the explosion. The filmmaker, who continues to live in Beirut despite the ongoing bombings and invasion by Israel, said the film was about how the two opposites fuse in an ineffable whole.
