University of Texas getting student IDs in Apple Wallet in 2027

The University of Texas at Austin has launched a digital ID initiative, set to be implemented in 2027. The initiative aligns with the preferences of modern-day students and serves as a cost-cutting measure with added security. If implemented, the digital IDs will be delivered via the MyUT platform to students' Apple Wallets and Android Wallets. The move follows Apple's announcement of support for digital student ID cards in Apple Wallet at WWDC 2018 and is expected to lead other universities to adopt this model. The new digital IDs provide access to campus dining and retail, event entry, library services, and more.
