A wildlife tracker has confirmed that river otters have been spotted at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis, Indiana, after decades of waiting for them to make an appearance. The sighting was captured on video by Mark Hiskes, a member of the Eagle Creek Foundation board member, confirming at least one otter had wandered through the area. This sighting is further confirmation of the North American river otter species, which were reintroduced to Indiana in the 1990s and removed from Indiana's endangered species list in 2005. The park's manager, Dawn VanDeman, said the sighting indicates that the park appeals to otters in search of food and shelter. Despite concerns about the impact otters might have on the area, she is not worried about their impact on the ecosystem.
