The day before President Donald Trump ordered bombs dropped on Iran, he visited a Whataburger in Corpus Christi, Texas, to celebrate a dredging project that would allow larger ships to arrive at the port. This visit was part of a larger effort to celebrate the arrival of Venezuelan oil. The city is on the verge of running out of water due to historic drought that has shifted precipitation patterns, which could make it harder to import or export energy in the future. The president was also asked about joining Israel in striking Iran, but declined. A week later, oil was literally raining down over Tehran due to petroleum facilities bombed and destroyed by Israeli jets. The conflict has also led to a spike in oil prices, which have been seen as a significant cost of living.
