Menahga man charged with possessing, distributing child sexual abuse material

Alexander Mark Rife, a 35-year-old man from Menahga, is facing two felony charges related to child sexual abuse material and possessing child pornography on an electronic device. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children flagged a CyberTip linked to an Instagram account showing a video depicting child sexualabuse material. Investigators traced the account's IP address to Rife's former Bemidji apartment and a search warrant was executed at his residence on Feb. 24, 2026. Rife admitted to using the "retroseeker" Instagram account and having a sexual relationship with a 16-year old girl he met on Instagram and sent him nude photographs. The charges carry a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison, a $20,000 fine, or both.
