Man pleads guilty to second-degree murder, gun charges in 2022 Winston-Salem killing

Rrayhaun Antonio Crowder, a Winston-Salem man, has been sentenced to more than 17 years in prison for the second-degree murder of Shaunte Rhyne Jr. He pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in Forsyth County Superior Court. The case began in 2022 when police responded to a report of a shooting at 955 E. Second St. near an East Second Street address and found a bystander who was shot and killed during the gunfire. Police believe there was a verbal altercation between Crowder and another male at the scene and he began firing about nine gunshots.
