Rory McIlroy, the current holder of the 2026 Masters, is tied with Sam Burns in the leaderboard after the first round. McIlory had not played in the US since finishing T46 at The Players due to a back injury. He is only the seventh defending champion to lead after Round 1 in the history of the Masters.
