The Plainfield, Illinois, Village Board is considering a 180-day moratorium on data centers. The moratorium would place a moratorium on applications, processing, and the issuance of any permit for data centers and warehouses. The mayor, John Argoudelis, cited environmental concerns and a lack of electricity as the primary reason for the moratorium.
