Grupo México merges power assets with BlackRock-backed Saavi Energía in 4,500 MW deal

Mexican conglomerate Grupo México has announced plans to merge its power generation assets with Saavi Energía, a company controlled by Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), a subsidiary of BlackRock. The merger will cover 14 power plants in high-demand areas across Mexico, with a capacity of 4,510 megawatts. The new entity will operate under the name SaVi Energia. The transaction is pending regulatory approvals and is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026.
