Co-owner of Corbo's Bakery, Valerie Corbo, has filed a lawsuit alleging a conspiracy to steal from the company and withhold money she is owed. The lawsuit accuses her brother Joseph Corbo and her sister-in-law Selena Corbo of conspiring to hide transfers of corporate assets, improperly pay themselves salaries, and take distributions of other corporate assets. The company was split when John Corbo died in 2009, so Valerie, Joseph and Selena shared half of the business. Since Valerie's 50% ownership, she argues that her co-owners cannot fire her without an announced shareholders meeting, which she claims never happened. The suit also alleges accounting irregularities, including massive increases or decreases in cash on hand for year to year, unsubstantiated increases in retained earnings, expenditures on the corporate income statement which appear to reflect potential improper distributions to shareholders other than Plaintiff.
