Seattle police are investigating a shooting and robbery at an apartment along 4th Ave. in Belltown, where one person is in critical condition after being shot in the head. Another man was assaulted and pistol-whipped, and police say he only sustained minor injuries. The incident highlights a significant increase in reported violent crime in Belltown, as well as the Chinatown-International District. The Seattle Police Department recorded more violent crimes in 2025 than any other year since 2020, according to police crime data. The trend has led Jonas Ambaye to be more cautious when walking with his daughter near their home, and may lead to a decrease in crime.
