Most major airlines are being forced to cancel flights due to the global oil crisis, which began when Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz in response to the U.S.-Israeli strike. Delta and United have both reduced their summer networks to maximize the use of jet fuel, while international airlines such as Air France, KLM and Lufthansa have also done the same. The latest airline to confirm route cuts is Canadian vacation airline Air Transat, which will reduce its Cuba service by 6% until October 2026. The cancellations affect approximately 1,000 flights to European cities such as Marseille and Barcelona and a full cancelation of its Cuban service. Travelers who already booked travel on canceled routes will be contacted with refund or rebooking options.
