Keisha Lance Bottoms, the former mayor of Atlanta and current candidate for governor of Georgia, is the daughter of soul superstar Major Lance. Her new memoir, The Rough Side of the Mountain, details her joyous childhood and her realization when her father's star began to fade as she grew older. Major Lance was a major figure in soul music in the late 1950s and '60s, with his charisma and a great voice. Keisha's father, Curtis Mayfield, met with him when they were teenagers and influenced his career. She recalls her father’s first big hit, “Delilah” which was written by Mayfield and produced by Carl Davis. The memoir is published by Mariner Books.
