Ned Rozell and Forest Wagner have been cycling westward in an effort to reach Nome, Alaska, with the goal of reaching Nome. The pair began their journey when it warmed to minus 12 degrees Fahrenheit and they left their home in Fairbanks on a boot-packed trail. The journey took 27 hours and 50 miles, with space in ample supply on pressed-in snow trails between towns and villages in Interior Alaska. Five days and 145 miles later, they are enjoying French toast and bacon cooked for them by their friend Steve O’Brien, who also helped them move westward. Despite a month of snows and cold temperatures, the weather finally showed up with bluebird skies as the day warmed to 8 degrees Fahrenheit.
