Margaret Mead Film Festival Announces 2026 Lineup

The 2026 Margaret Mead Film Festival will open at the Museum of Natural History in New York from May 1-3. Oscar-nominee Sara Dosa's documentary Time and Water, about the loss of glaciers in Iceland, will be the opening film. The festival, named for cultural anthropologist Margaret Mead, will also host the North American premiere of River Dreams, a film directed by Kristina Mikhailova, and The Oldest Person in the World, Sam Green’s documentary about the oldest living human in the world. The event will also feature award-winning documentaries, including Nuisance Bear and Whispers in May, which recently won the Grand Jury Prize for U.S. Documentary at the Sundance Film Festival.
