Disney is reportedly developing a live-action movie about Disney's first Black princess, Tiana, with Oscar-nominated actor Colman Domingo attached as a writer. This move comes after Disney cancelled its planned "Tiana" Disney+ series. The film is reportedly being developed as an original live-actions story, suggesting it could expand the character's world instead of retelling the events of the 2009 animated classic. This indicates Disney is giving Tiana a fresh future after shifting away from the streaming series. Domingos, who has received back-to-back Academy Award nominations for his performances in "Rustin" and "Sing Sing" (2024), is also in talks to co-write Disney's reported live-Action Tiana movie alongside playwright Robert O'Hara.
