Gurnee police have arrested 18-year-old Semaj K. Wilcox for aggravated battery with a firearm in relation to the April 3 shooting of a 17-year old girl. Wilcoons turned himself in to police after a warrant was issued in conjunction with the shooting. He will be detained in the Lake County jail following a hearing. Police Chief Jeremy Gaughan commended the thorough and persistent work of detectives and the partnership with the State's Attorney's Office. The incident occurred shortly after a confrontation with an armed man who threatened to kill any officer who entered. Gurnee is also investigating a series of burglaries to commercial buildings on the morning of April 14.
