The two brothers, Kirk McKinney and Jacob McKinney, launched Junk Teens in 2021, a junk removal and reselling business in Norwood, Massachusetts. The business brought in $3.04 million in 2025 revenue, including over $686,000 in net profit. The brothers, now aged 22 and 20 respectively, found the business after selling abandoned items on Facebook Marketplace and hanging out at the dump. They began their business with a $4,000 pickup truck and enlisted friends and classmates to help with manual labor. Today, JunkTeens employs 10 full-time and roughly 10 to 15 part-time employees, all of whom are high school, college or gap-year students. The company completed over 5,500 jobs in 2025, mostly residential and commercial junk removal. Both McKinneys now study entrepreneurship at Babson College while running the business.
