University of Tennessee opens new forensic anthropology laboratory

The University of Tennessee has opened a new forensic anthropology laboratory, expanding the footprint of the Forensic Anthropology Center’s William M. Bass Forensic Anthropology Building. The expansion allows the center to handle more cases from law enforcement, tripling its annual capacity from the current 30 human remains cases. The space includes a large lab, preparation room for human remains, a conference room, and a hands-on training opportunities for students. The lab is set to be the first academic forensic anthropology lab in the U.S. to earn accreditation.
