The push to end medical transition for minors has seen a surge in pediatric gender care clinics in the US, with over 100 in less than two decades. Jamie Reed, a patient intake coordinator and case manager for The Washington University Transgender Center at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, witnessed a significant increase in patient numbers, with nearly 70% of new patients being girls. This shift is now being contested in Congress and the courtroom due to state and federal restrictions, civil lawsuits from detransitioners, and sustained activism. There are currently 30 active malpractice cases filed by detransitionsers across the country, many of which involve biological girls who felt "grief and regret" following their top surgery. The Center for American Liberties suggests that litigation and legislation as an effective solution to political pressures.
