Former Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) has stated that farmers are already dealing with higher energy prices amid the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran, which has resulted in increased global energy prices. The per-barrel price of West Texas Intermediate Crude Oil, the benchmark for North American markets, is over $86, up by nearly $20 relative to the day before the conflict. Tester also mentioned the effects of President Trump's tariff policies, which have led to higher prices for imported fertilizers and equipment and downstream effects on the soybean industry.
