Arizona Governor Rob Hobbs has vetoed legislation that would have allowed the creation of a state license plate bearing Charlie Kirk's image to raise money for Turning Point USA, a charity run by Kirk's widow, Erika Kirk. The legislation was written to bypass the Arizona State Board on Geographic and Historic Names and would have required the Arizona Department of Transportation to install signage throughout Loop 202. Hobbs stated that renaming of a highway should not be circumvented by the legislature and that any renaming process should follow the current process through the state board. This vetoes were not a surprise, as Hobbs had previously approved for every other legislatively approved request for a special license plate.
