‘Why not push back’: Retired Portland-based lawyer files lawsuit over Trump commemorative coin

Retired lawyer and former federal employee, James Rickher, has filed a lawsuit against a commemorative coin featuring an image of President Donald Trump. The design of the coin has been approved by the Commission of Fine Arts and the Treasury Department hopes to begin production soon. However, Rickher argues that this violates federal law Title 31, which prohibits the inclusion of a living person on currency and securities. He argues that the coin would be considered legal tender and that the Treasury Secretary's discretion is limited.
