Democratic senators are demanding an investigation into the Trump administration's decision to ease sanctions on Russian oil reserves in an attempt to offset the impact of the U.S.-Israeli strikes on global oil supplies. The minority members on the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs have requested a congressional hearing with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent by the end of March. They argue that the administration cannot simultaneously prioritize U.K. military operations while offering sanctions relief to Russian President Vladimir Putin. The decision to loosen these trade restrictions follows reports that Russia provided the Iranian regime with information that aided their counter strikes on U.
